WHAT IS A

Power Extension

We are licensed and insured for Limited Electrical work. Our company policy is that we do not "add circuits" we only extend them.

Basically, if you have an outlet down-low or nearby your desired TV location, we have a couple of methods to extend that outlet to service that new TV location.

The most common is a high-low power extension. This is where we install new wiring through the wall and add a whole new outlet up behind the TV. Stud layouts, fire blocking, and other obstructions dictate whether this route is possible or not.

The second most common is what we call a POWER KIT. This is where a dead wire is installed between that new outlet behind the TV and an inlet below or near the TV. That circuit is then energized by a power cord that can be hidden behind furniture or similar. This option is less susceptible to the obstructions above.

HOW DO WE IDENTIFY

Power Solutions

Every situation is slightly different, but there are three key components to identify which power solution would be best.

1

LOCATION

The nearest outlet is usually directly under the TV or very close thanks to electrical code requirements. This is most often the outlet we use for an extension.
2

ACCESS

Our access for running wires, be it through walls, basements, crawl spaces, or attics, is the primary factor for deciding what solutions are actually possible.
3

BUDGET

Power extensions cost a minimum of $120, but also usually cost just $120, but depending on your situation could require additional hardware and labor.
